Having fixed up my bathroom with liberal use of Forever White sealant to plug many gaps, I move onto other jobs - in fact, there are many things I'd like to change about my house. The major issue I have with my house is the carpet in the living room area. It needs a major cleaning. Me and carpet do not get along. It gets way too dirty and I don't like looking at it. One day I'll invest in tile which will make my home life much easier. I also need more furniture. As of now, all I have are two couches and a coffee table. A new bed would be even better. I do not call 10 year old spring box and a mattress on top of it a bed. Another thing that bothers me about my house is the walls. The plain white paint makes the walls look boring. I also would like a back yard that didn't consist of weeds. A nice tropical garden would be nice. The ultimate thing I'd love is for my home to be spotless. It's hard to keep a house clean when you have messy family members. Maybe I'll hire a made. Oh yeah, I forgot...they think I'm the maid! |

My biggest clean up operation occured last weekend. I recently moved to an inner city suburb near a beautiful river. I decided to undertake a large scale rubbish clean up by the river in my local area. The river streches for miles but we could only physically cope with 2 miles of rubbish as there so much of it. I convinced some friends to help me which allowed us to clean up the area in one day - one had a job working for a oil tank removal company, so I guessed he'd be a good guy to have helping me. We must have picked up at least 599 aliminium cans. There were countless plastic water bottles and wine bottles. We had a trailer which was full to the brim when we had finished. We plan to return in six months and hopefully wont be faced with the same situated. Some of the bottles looked like they had been there for years. It makes me furious that people are mindlessly discarding rubbish in this way. It hurts the environment by clogging up the water ways. |

I love watching the Discovery Channel and seeing all these megaprojects from start to finish. It might be a huge new casino needing building in Las Vegas, or a suspension bridge in Bangkok - I'm just in awe at the size of these projects and wonder how they can even have the gall to attempt such brazen projects. There they are with their concrete pumps, screeds, mega-cranes, an army of workers, and usually a non-chalant cool foreman who never gets stressed, just calmly watching the whole show unfold. There's usually moments where the whole projects gets close to disaster (normally before a commercial break!), but things all come out well in the end. It's a real education watching these programs. Everything is built on solid rules of physics, and you think "yes, that makes sense". It's a show of human ingenuity and sheer bravery - very inspiring and it makes me want to build my own project. |

Our landlord really has made a kind of Chinese puzzle out of the big Victorian house he bought. It means that there's a lot of noise pollution as the walls are simply too thin between each apartment and we can hear even conversations taking place (that don't have raised voices).
I'm tired of my noisy neighbours, but I don't hate or blame them. They're reasonable people and they're not anti-social. It's the block of apartments. It has next to zero sound proofing. I can hear people in the flat TWO storeys above mine for example! We've all got together and contacted our landlord as a collective to see what can be done about soundproofing. I am sure we can have some lead sheeting installed to dampen the noise. When people are just trying to live their lives normally (without making any special amount of noise) it's ridiculous when their normal actions are waking up the two adjacent flats. |

History is all around us, if only we bother to look for it. The buildings give so many clues as to the history of our local area. A church graveyard can tell you who lived in your village one hundred years ago, and even their occupations too! This is why I feel jobs such as stone restoration are vital to a community. A community does not suddenly appear out of thin air. It was put there by its ancestors. Sure, there are plenty of people who are "new" to the area, but you will always find families in villages whose family tree have firm roots in the nearby area. Knowing the history of an area gives you that extra sense of respect - all the struggles of the past, and also the things previous generations did to make OUR lives easier too. They toiled in the fields and built many of the buildings we live in today. |

More and more people are turning to using steel as a better alternative to the conventional building materials. Steel costs cheaper and is more durable than other materials. Constructing a steel building costs almost half what it would take than a building made of concrete and wood. The time it will take to construct a steel building is much faster than with other materials making construction companies meet their targeted deadlines more efficiently. Steel buildings that are built nowadays have a contemporary look that appeals most to our modern society. These type of buildings are very resilient against harsh weather elements and can withstand strong calamities.
If you are interested in putting up your own building you can approach construction companies that specialize in steel buildings. They can give you a free quotation on steel building prices. These prices are very affordable and you can find one that will suit your company’s budget. You also can negotiate for a good price and still get the best quality of service that you deserve. |

Trash left in the streets has absolutely no positive aspect to it. It looks, well, it just looks trashy. I see the petrol pressure washers clean up the mess left behind from the night before, but can't help think: why should there be a mess to clean up?
It can be very bad for all of the animals which may happen by and be poisoned by this garbage, and no one wants to see dead animals on the road. It also makes a town or city look bad to visitors. No one wants to go on vacation and see garbage strewn about the roads and sidewalks when trash cans are always readily available. This of course brings in less revenue to the towns once they are known as "trashy." It's bad for the environment as well. Throwing food containers such as Styrofoam into the streets can get into water supplies, as can chemicals from cleaning containers, or even some of the things in our foods like preservatives. Once this gets into the groundwater supply it can entirely ruin our water systems, which obviously, we need! |
