Untidy Streets: A Menace to Society

Many careless and lazy people drop all sorts of unwanted items on the street, not caring about the mess they create. My cousin works for a road sweeper hire firm and they've been expanding their business rapidly over the last few years - I'm not surprised by the increasing amount of litter on the streets!
This mess consists mainly of candy wrappers, shopping bags and other plastics. This causes pollution and can be harmful to the environment and in some cases can damage the health of the people. The streets look very untidy and can create a bad impression in a foreigner's mind. The mess shows the state of mind of the people living in the area. If the streets are untidy then it goes to show that the people living in or around the area are uneducated and illiterate. When people see some mess on the streets, they add to the mess by throwing their own waste on the already growing piles of filth. It is against the law to throw garbage on the streets and in places where this law is not present, it should be enforced and regularly monitored to keep a check on the pollution levels of the street. In short, we should be careful not to throw waste on the streets as it ruins the image of the city or area and can become an excuse for others to do the same. So set an example for others instead of following them.
